Mr. Yue-Yan Chan, president of Cherrybrook Chinese Association Inc. (CCCA) between 1991 and 1994, passed away peacefully on the 20th October, 2024.
Born and brought up in Hong Kong, Yue-yan, also called YY, had his early education in Hong Kong. Upon his completion his degree at New South Wales University, he subsequently chose his teaching career, initially in Australia, then in Hong Kong. In 1986, YY returned to Sydney to continue his teaching career at Epping Boy’s High School.
YY was a willful and dynamic man, he had the vision and ability to make things happen as exemplify by his trailblazing act of teaming with like-minded friends in forming the Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association Inc. (CCCA) in 1989. During his reign as president, he also help to set up the Chinese Language School. Separately he was also invited to participate at the planning stage of the Cherrybrook Technology High School.
YY was a man of integrity, with his dedication to community work. He was well respected by everyone not only in the community, but also by politicians of all major parties.
