Resumption of activities from 1/3/2020

Though the COVID-19 outbreak is far from over, the situation in Australia has been quite stable for the last few weeks.

We have decided to resume all activities from 1/3/2020

As a precaution, before participating in any activities, please follow the guidelines issued by Australian Government on the Smartraveller website as follows:

Returning from China

  • If you’ve travelled to Hubei Province in the last 14 days, you must isolate yourself for 14 days.
  • If you’ve left or transited through mainland China on or after 1 February 2020, you must isolate yourself for 14 days after leaving China.
  • If you’ve been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you must isolate yourself for 14 days after your last contact with them.

The situation will be constantly monitored and any changes to the schedule will be notified in due course

Chinese School starting date for 2020

Due to the current status of the coronavirus outbreak it has been decided to delay the starting date for the Chinese school to 15/2/2020

Please also observe advice by NSW education department that any student who has visited China during the holiday will have to be self-quarantined for 14 days before attending the school. 

Your cooperation in this matter would be much appreciated by all parents and teachers

Suspension of all member activities for February

Due to members concern regarding the current status of coronavirus outbreak, the committee has decided to suspend all activities for the month of February

These include:

  1. Chinese New Year celebration dinner (2/2)
  2. Enjoy yourself day (5/2, 12/2, 19/2, 26/2)
  3. Gardening session by Stephen Lang (21/2)
  4. Technology session by James Fong (14/2)
  5. Chinese opera session (4/2, 11/2, 18/2, 25/2)
  6. Karaoke session (24/2)

The situation will be reviewed at the end of February as to whether its appropriate to resume these activities in March

Apologies for the inconvenience but as you understand its for the greater good of our community.

The 30th Annual General Meeting of the Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association was successfully completed

The 30th Anniversary Association of the Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association was held at the Castle Terrace Chinese Cuisine in Castle Hill on August 31st.

There were more than forty people present. First of all, President Jenny Lau gave a welcome speech. The General Assembly then adopted the minutes of the 29th Annual General Meeting and the 2018-2019 Financial Report. In the meeting, the executive members of the association from 2019 to 2020 were elected, and the positions were elected by the new members.

Congratulations to Wenbin Fu – 2nd Price Winner of “10th Lu Xun Youth Literature Awards” Overseas Essay

Wenbin Fu , a student in the Teenager Class of the Association’s Chinese Language  School, participated in the 10th “Lu Xun Youth Literature Awards” overseas essay activity, which was jointly organized by the Shanghai Overseas Exchange Association, Shanghai Lu Xun Cultural Development Center, Shanghai Education Press and Oriental Education Times. More than 1,080 essays from more than 90 overseas Chinese Language educational institutions in 19 countries participated, with the selection of 168 award-winning compositions.
